My Poetry

I started this blog so I could neatly archive my work. You should find my poetry very diverse. I would like to believe there is something here for almost everyone.

It was only recently that I became interested in poetry. I started taking care of my mother after she suffered a stroke and we began writing stories and poems together. It has been very therapeutic for us both.

This isn't a complete collection of my poetry, my first poems I self published under the moniker, A Pet Banana Production. The first self published book, "A Pet Banana" is a rhyme/story about colors and the second is a collection of poetry I created with my mother titled, "An Elephant is On My House." I hope you enjoy my writing and I would love a visit to my author page!
Thanks!

Doug the Slug

I had a pet slug, it's name was Doug and it wasn't a bug, but it lived in my rug, and acted like a thug, when it slimed my pug, and was really smug, as it gave me a shrug, so I put it in a mug, and gave it a chug, then I went ugh, it tasted like krug and felt like a drug, the nurse gave me a hug, and started to pull the plug, but before I died I felt a tug and out popped Doug.

Tick Tock

The clock keeps ticking,
And the sand keeps sifting,
My, how time passes by…

The old get older,
And the young get younger,
My, how things stay the same…

Some say they wouldn’t,
Others say they couldn’t,
Maybe, that needs to change.

SpACeMaN SpIFFy (Short Vr.)

Spaceman Spiffy
He could get there in a jiffy
Cause he had the fastest rocket ship that ever flew,
He zipped past Mars, and zoomed over Pluto
And into deep dark space his mighty rockets blew!

Back to Earth his rockets roared
And through space Spiffy soared,
But he put on his brakes on a little too soon,
He lost all control and his rocket ship rolled
And he crashed into the face on The Moon!

There was a really loud boom,
As his rocket ship crash landed
And it made a large dust plume,
He sniffed and he snorted and he let out a sneeze,
Then he loudly proclaimed;
“Why, I believe this old moon tastes just like cheese!”

Spaceman Spiffy
He could get there in a jiffy
Cause he had the fastest rocket ship that ever flew,
He zipped past Mars, and zoomed over Pluto
And into deep dark space his mighty rockets blew!

A little green man in a saucer
Made Spaceman Spiffy an offer;
“Race me back to The Earth, around The Milky Way
If you are up to the challenge
And your rocket ship is super fast like they all say!”

Spaceman Spiffy took the little green man’s dare,
“Get ready to eat my space dust, if race me you must
I’ll beat you anytime and anywhere!”

Their space rockets roared,
And through space they soared,
But, Spiffy put on his brakes on a little too soon,
He lost all control and his rocket ship rolled,
And he crashed into the face on the moon!

There was a really loud boom
As his rocket ship crash landed
And it made a large dust plume
He sniffed and he snorted and he let out a sneeze,
Then he loudly proclaimed;
“Why, I believe this old moon tastes just like cheese!”

The Evil Walker

The evil walker, walked in the woods,
in the woods he walked, walking all the time
he was taller than the crawler, who crawled in the holler,
he stepped over rivers and leaped over hills.

He was meaner and leaner, and a whole lot cleaner,
than the crawler in the holler, that was so much smaller
who crawled on his belly, and was a whole lotta smelly,
he slid under leaves and lived under rocks.

The evil walker, walked in the woods,
and he talked when he walked, and he stalked when he talked,
he looked for the crawler, which was so much smaller
so he could smoke him on the grill, and make him a meal,
cause the evil walker, walked in the woods
…and he was hungry as hell.

The Love Poem

--It’s on my mind and you need to know--
floating and fluttering as on a gentle breeze,
like a butterfly’s wings in perfect harmony,

--Sinking and rising like a ship lost at sea--
lots of blue water swirling up high,
mountainous waves splashing nearby,

--Rolling and turning so fast in a frenzy--
riding in a topsy turvy roller-coaster train,
falling really fast then up and down again,

--All and every one of these things--
they are what I felt from the very start,
this is what your love did to my heart.

Here at this house..

There are too many memories-here at this house..
Voices floating softly through the halls
Sweet smells so near, someone-I could touch;
Here in the air, so still, I can feel my heart beating
As I sit thinking of you, it’s almost-too much.

There are so many memories-here at this house..
Laughter filled the air, with happiness and love
It seems so far away, if only-I could just concentrate;
I could live it again, feel the breath on my chest
Swooning lightly in the joy, knowing-it’s not too late.

Are there too many memories-here at this house??
Every single inch reminds me of a lifetime ago
I am told to start over again-and put it all away;
But I had more joy than pain, this is what I need
These are all of my memories-and here I will stay.

That Sycamore tree

On a hot summer day as kids we played,
Our mouths roar with glee
Under that Sycamore tree

On a brisk fall day as teens we grow,
Feeling more than free
Under that Sycamore tree

On a cold winter day as adults we become,
With you I adore to be
Under that Sycamore tree

On a fresh spring day as love we made,
My life I swore to thee
Under that Sycamore tree

On a hot summer day as older we age,
I’m glad you’re with me
Under that Sycamore tree.

On The Run

Run Run my little son!
Play outside when the chores are done
Run Run my little son!
Swim in the creek and have some fun
Run Run my little son!
Dance with that girl and call her hon
Run Run my little son!
Enjoy your life it has just begun
Run Run my little son!
Raise a family with the wife you won
Run Run my little son!
You have come a long way and lived a ton
Run Run my little son!
Tell all of those stories that you have spun
Run Run my little son!
You are all out of time, now there is none
Sleep Sleep my little son.
All of your life you have been on the run…

Up all night

The Sun came up
The Sun went down,
There I sat
With a frown. :-(
The Moon was full
And really bright,
There I sat
Through the night.
The Sun came up
The Moon went round,
Now my frown
Is upside down. :-)

Sack of Lies

All your lies
Piled so high,
Gather them up
Your sack of lies,

If you’re wise
Don’t look inside,
It’s filling up
Your sack of lies,

What I saw
In your eyes,
I should have seen
Your sack of lies.

Old King Caddle

Old king Caddle, vain Overseer,
He looked in the mirror
And looked to the rear,
He looked to the front
And looked really near,
He looked at his court
And looked at their fear,
He looked and looked
And let out a sneer,
“By all that is Caddle
In my mustache, what is this SMEAR!
